BEST Subaru Mechanic in town! I have a 2002 Subaru Forester (my baby!) and was referred to Joe by a coworker of my husband. My car had a laundry list of things that needed repairing! Joe went from what was most crucial first! He worked within my budget and we recently had the rest of the list finished. My car is running very smoothly ..I am so jazzed! Joe is honest and forthright about what you are dealing with and prioritized what needed to be repaired first. The repairs were done FAST!!!!! They are very friendly and knowledgeable! I would highly recommend them to anyone! THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

I was recommended to Joe's Alfa and Subaru by two independent people as well as by the high yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. The service was fast and professional. The staff was friendly and very knowledgable. I have had some bad experiences with other car repair shops, especially with my subaru (2002 wrx in awesome blue, its my baby), so I was very skiddish about going to a new mechanic. I was skiddish at first, but I was put at ease by Joe's staff. I would highly recommend Joe's to any one with a subaru and I would even drive from miles away to go here.

a little history about why I am writing the review: I was traveling down a mountain road between when it was snowing- pretty hard. I ended up crossing a curved bridge while going downhill. My forester ended up hitting a snow bank and had to get pulled out by a Cal Trans plow. I phoned Joe the next morning and told him what had happened and needed to get it checked out before driving back home to So. Cal. He said that he was busy until 12 noon. I asked if I could come in a little earlier. He said that there might be a wait. I went down to his shop around 10 AM, he had a spare lift open. He had his mechanic put my forester up on the lift and did a visual inspection of the suspension, drive train, etc. I had a piece of plastic from the inner fender that had come undone from hitting the snowbank. The plastic rivets holding attaching it were missing. His mechanic zip tied the plastics together for a temporary fix. They put the car down, and drove it a bit to make sure. Joe didnt charge me anything, and just told me if I need any work done the next time I am in town to stop in.

Joe and his team are upstanding. Very helpful, explain the issues and are just great to work with. They know what they are doing and charge a fair price. They have gone above and beyond for me and I highly recommend them for any subaru owner!

This is a weird review because it's about stuff these guys didn't do. The first time i went in was because I had an engine light on and my cruise control light on at the same time. Check this out...they said "tighten the gas cap" and it fixed the problem! No charge. I was in today because I get a weird shimmy at high speeds. They checked it all out and said "It's your tires, they are getting near the end". No charge. And they didn't try to sell me tires which brings me to my next point. Six months ago, I went to Maita for a warranty covered issue and it got fixed. Then some woman there says "Your tires are almost worn out , you need some new ones now" Well I'm a sceptical guy so a couple days later, I went over to the Goodyear place downtown to pick up tires I had selected online and called to order. Well I get there and the guy says "You don't need new tires" So a guy whose only job is to sell tires talked me out of them...after the people at Maita tried to sell me something I didn't need. So, get your Subie fixed at Joe's and buy your tires from Goodyear downtown!

I cannot say enough in praise of Joe and his guys. I have a 2005 Subaru Outback and was referred to Joe by a close friend and Subarau owner. I have since sent my boyfriend and his Toyota and my boss and her Honda. If you have a Japanese car, these guys will take very good care of you. They are honest, knowledgeable, offer competitive, reasonable pricing, and will give you a ride to and from work (in the downtown area) while they have your car. Knowing I have a trustworhty and reliable mechanic makes owning my Subie all that much more satisfying.

My car is over 10 years old, and finally getting to that age where it needs tender loving care. It developed this odd shimmy that my former mechanic couldn't diagnose - I'd describe it, and he'd shrug his shoulders. Then the car pooped out on the way to SF on a rainy night - I was at the mercy of a Fairfield dealer, who not only misdiagnosed the problem, but took several weeks to fix the misdiagnosed problem, only for me to make it back to Sac and have the same problem occur, and at a premium price. A friend suggested that I find someone who only works on Subarus - and I figured the name of this shop would ensure that. Joe was in my car less than 30 seconds, diagnosed the problem correctly, and took my car in and fixed it right away. Since then, the car gets it's service exclusively here - his mechanics are all friendly and polite, and when they say the car will be ready, it's ready; and I feel like I can trust them implicitly. AND - they give me a ride downtown whenever I'm in for service. My next car may have to be a subaru, just so I can keep taking it here.
