Joe and his staff do great work. they helped get my car fixed and on the road even though it seeemed as if the problem wasnt going to reveal itself in a timely manner. they were patient, found the problem and got me on my way. I've been going to Alpha Subaru for 5 years and they have always treated me fair and given me a good deal on quality work. thanks guys! -dan

Joe's Subaru is great! They repaired my torn axle boot in a couple of hours as scheduled and had me back on the road without breaking the bank. Very friendly staff. Waiting area is comfy. Best Subaru specialist in Sac area.

I had my car towed to Joe's Alfas Subaru when the alternator when out. I also needed the head gaskets replaced. Joe said that since they would be doing the labor for the head gaskets that would get to the alternator, they would just charge me for the part. Very nice! Also, although the work went a few days over estimation (they were waiting on the work of another shop), the price came out to be significantly below what was quoted.

I recently had my 2007 Forester serviced here. It was in need of the 105,000 mile service, plus some head gasket problems from a previous warranty "repair" at a Subaru dealer. The 105K service was about the same price as the dealer, but the list of things done and replaced was longer than the dealer's. I was happy about that because I had been researching some of the stuff that should be done at the same time (like seals, water pump, and a big list of others) and Joe had these items covered. It sounds like he really knows these engines and it was fun to talk to him about them. In the end, it wasn't a cheap service job, but a lot of things were done and I have a lot of confidence now that the car is going to last a while. I feel like I got more than my money's worth here. Being slightly North of Downtown Sac, the place is very easy to get to/from. Update: 15,000 miles later, everything is still perfect with the car; no leaks, extra noises, or smoke. Update: 30,000 miles later, still perfect. Thanks Joe. Update: 50,000 miles later, still running great. No leaks, bad noises, nothing, not even smoke. It runs like the day I bought it. I need to stop putting so many miles on this thing. Thanks Joe.

I checked out Subaru Specialists' website and decided this would be a good place to get the slipping clutch on my Subaru Outback replaced. I called to make a booking, was given a cost estimate and range of times to choose from and dropped my car off a few days later. Joe gave me a printed cost estimate that was less than his original phone estimate (parts were listed and labor time and cost detailed). I collected my car once it was complete (on time) and it is great. Joe fixed the clutch exactly as described and also gave the rest of the car a quick check in the process. When I picked it up Joe took the time to describe what was in good condition and what I should keep an eye on over the next year. I'll definitely go back next time my car needs maintenance.

I've been a customer and huge fan of Joe's Alfa Subaru (aka Subaru Specialists) for over five years. I've referred my friends to them. We all have the same opinion: They are the most awesome shop ever. I've owned four Subies over the last 20 years and I'll buy another this year. You can bet the Subaru Specialists will get my business and as many people as I can recommend.

Subaru owners are a special breed imho. We love our vehicles and want them properly serviced. Joe and the rest of the crew at Alpha Subaru Specialists are excellent at diagnosing and repairing and go all out for their customers. They're a family business and they make you feel like you're part of that family. So happy to have trustworthy, top notch mechanics!!

BEST Subaru Mechanic in town! I have a 2002 Subaru Forester (my baby!) and was referred to Joe by a coworker of my husband. My car had a laundry list of things that needed repairing! Joe went from what was most crucial first! He worked within my budget and we recently had the rest of the list finished. My car is running very smoothly ..I am so jazzed! Joe is honest and forthright about what you are dealing with and prioritized what needed to be repaired first. The repairs were done FAST!!!!! They are very friendly and knowledgeable! I would highly recommend them to anyone! THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!!!

I was recommended to Joe's Alfa and Subaru by two independent people as well as by the high yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. The service was fast and professional. The staff was friendly and very knowledgable. I have had some bad experiences with other car repair shops, especially with my subaru (2002 wrx in awesome blue, its my baby), so I was very skiddish about going to a new mechanic. I was skiddish at first, but I was put at ease by Joe's staff. I would highly recommend Joe's to any one with a subaru and I would even drive from miles away to go here.

a little history about why I am writing the review: I was traveling down a mountain road between when it was snowing- pretty hard. I ended up crossing a curved bridge while going downhill. My forester ended up hitting a snow bank and had to get pulled out by a Cal Trans plow. I phoned Joe the next morning and told him what had happened and needed to get it checked out before driving back home to So. Cal. He said that he was busy until 12 noon. I asked if I could come in a little earlier. He said that there might be a wait. I went down to his shop around 10 AM, he had a spare lift open. He had his mechanic put my forester up on the lift and did a visual inspection of the suspension, drive train, etc. I had a piece of plastic from the inner fender that had come undone from hitting the snowbank. The plastic rivets holding attaching it were missing. His mechanic zip tied the plastics together for a temporary fix. They put the car down, and drove it a bit to make sure. Joe didnt charge me anything, and just told me if I need any work done the next time I am in town to stop in.
