Great experience overall. What I appreciate the most is how my adviser, Chris, was open and honest every step along the way. They were also better with pricing than what the dealership was offering. Thanks again Chris for the stellar customer service and getting me back on the road sooner than originally promised!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Kirk. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. Cheers, Sacramento Specialty Automotive

I’ve never been to a shop I trust more. I had my head gasket replaced 4 years ago and Chris was so kind and made me feel like I could trust him. I recently drove to Sacramento from LA and took my car straight to them for a tune up. 4 years later and STILL just as kind and trustworthy. Highly recommend this shop to anyone. The updates while your car is being worked on is awesome too!

Thank you so much for your kind words, Ali. We really appreciate you taking the time out to share your experience with us. Cheers, Sacramento Specialty Automotive

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. THESE LENGTHY NEGATIVE REVIEWS ARE WORTH READING!!! Because I'm a female and I was by myself I honestly believe they saw that as opportunity. They almost scammed me out of over 1,000 dollars. I brought my car in and told them that my car was bringing up 3 codes. Based off doing my own research I knew the codes had to be interrelated and I asked him if he think it may be the purge valve. I was told that if they found the issue, it would be $195 for the diagnostic. A few hours later, I got a call back from them saying that I had a few issues with the car. I told them I just wanted to get the check engine light off and nothing else. The guy who I believe is Chris, goes on trying to convince me that In order to get the check engine light off I needed to pay to replace the purge valve, the cleaning of the throttle body, spark plugs which totaled to $1,145 (I had already had my throttle body properly cleaned before going in to this place and I knew I did not need spark plug replacement just yet as I had not hit 100,000 miles). Then went on to say that there is more work that needs to be done at a later time for an additional $500. I told him that I did not expect to spend so much and he stated "well, look you have a $20,000 car" (what does the amount of my car have to do with me getting the work done) and then he told me they did financing. As I thought about it more, there were many red flags. I didn't understand why he was trying to charge me for maintenance, especially spark plugs , which has nothing to do with the EVAP system. I allowed him to send me the finance link with the fees that he was trying to charge (it expired and disappeared when I checked a week later) but decided against it as things just did not sound right. I went in to get my car and told him that I may come back at a later time. He became hesitant and all of a sudden he says " we can just fix your purge valve now and that should get your check engine light off. The other stuff can wait." In that moment, it confirmed for me that he was attempting to get over on me before. He asked if I wanted to make an appointment and I said okay. I made the appointment because I did not trust them as they still had my car. I just had this weird feeling about them. He said " I will charge you $195 as a deposit toward the upcoming purge valve service" and charged my card. I decided to drive to the Bay Area and go to a mechanic that I trust and have dealt with before (I just did not want to take the drive before ) .The mechanic did a full diagnostic and did not find any of the issues that this company said to have found. The only suggestion he made was to replace my gas cap as there was a leak from my gas cap. I went and replaced my gas cap and my check engine light did not come back on. I've been driving my car for weeks with no issue! I called Sacramento Specialty Automotive to ask for a refund as they did not find the issue with my car and since I was told it would go toward my purge valve labor. They put me on the phone with Chris. Chris told me that they would not provide a refund as the amount was for the diagnostic fee and that he's sure my code will pop up again. When I told him the check engine light hasn't come on weeks and that I can provide proof that it was the gas cap, he just remained silent for about 10 seconds and said "no because there were like 4 different codes." My biggest concern I have is that they almost charged me over 1,000 for a gas cap that I paid $35 for. Im not sure if they are trying to overcompensate for a loss with the pandemic but avoid this place at all costs!!!

My car was brought in for a commonly known Mazda issue on the Mazda 6 2014 touring. I had sent a link to the specific issue in question that included the exact problem and part needed. Regardless of me providing this information, I was billed a $200 fee for diagnosis. Come to find out, after diagnosis, it was the exact problem I sent them.Flash forward a week while I'm driving to work, and the car battery loses power and I have to get off the freeway to avoid an accident. I was able to re-start the car and make it to work, where it ultimately completely died. After calling the shop, they sent out a tow truck to get my car and return to the shop. I was under the impression that the shop would be covering this fee since it was clearly their fault. My car was now in worse shape than when I brought it in. Well, I was wrong and deceived by this shady company. The shop found that the battery was not secured in place with a part that was in my trunk from replacing the battery prior to me bringing the car into the shop the previous week. My car was specifically brought in for battery issues, yet they release my car to me without checking the battery is secured. If they had noticed this when it was in the week before, it could have been easily retrieved from my trunk. The shop ultimately made me pay $140 for towing and when questioning the issue, they blamed my fiance for leaving the part in the trunk, even though this was before I ever brought the car in for them to check.Do not bring your car here. They are not specialists as they claim if they can't even check if a battery is secure. I could have been in an accident on the freeway or worse due to their failure to check a basic part of a car. Also, do not have this place diagnose your car when you already know the issue. This is all a rip-off, and they should be ashamed for stealing people's money during these times. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company, and will never be back to this deceitful place of business.Update: they also broke my hood latch and didn’t even tell me.As you can see in the reply below, they are acting like they’re trying to resolve the issue, but I called them and they had no intent on resolving the issue. Don’t believe the lies.

Hi Christopher, It does seem like there is some things are being misunderstood. Customers are always welcome to have us replace a part that is recommended from them. Of course we would not be responsible if that recommendation was not correct. We would never force any customer for a Diagnostic Fee on their vehicle. It is always highly recommended so we can ensure your problem is solved. It appears you had some issues with the start/ stop button not shutting the vehicle off at times, which was found to be the Shifter Lever Solenoid. As I know this may be frustrating as vehicles are at times, there is a process to determine that cause of your concern. This indeed takes time and special equipment to pinpoint the problem. We are a Family owned business that takes pride in what we can provide to our customers. We do hope that this situation can be resolved and fixed, as we do not like any of our customers unsatisfied.

I had an excellent experience with every aspect of my interactions here. I’m new to Sacramento and needed to have some work done on a vehicle, but didn’t know where to take it. All the positive reviews led me here and I can guarantee I’ll be back. The online appointment request form was very helpful for being able to let them know exactly what I needed to have done before even talking to anyone. They were able to get me in within a few days from my initial contact on the exact day that worked best for me. When I arrived Chris met me and walked me through everything they were going to do and what the costs would be. He was very welcoming and is the kind of guy you can just tell is trustworthy. Throughout their initial inspection they kept me updated and even included pictures to help describe what needed to be done. They were able to complete repairs quickly and my car is now running great. Getting my car fixed in a new city was something I entered into with a bit of trepidation, but they really turned that around for me from the beginning and it was a truly positive experience. I highly recommend them!
