I called Sacramento Specialty Automotive for a price quote for the 120,000 maintenance on my 2004 Subaru. Joe, the owner, quoted me a price of $750.00 for the service and with a time line of 4 hours. When I dropped the car off, Sara/office manager wrote the work order; she had listed $1006.13 for the service, which I conveyed to her that I had been quoted $750.00 over the phone. She made a print of their Service menu, which had 3 categories for the 120,000 service: Preferred $1515.08, Value $1424.56, and Minimum $1006.13, to show me that there wasn't a $750 service. I again conveyed that "I was quoted $750.00, not $1000.00, and I was not informed about any categories for this Service!". She then left the office but came back shortly and said that they would charge the $750.00 for the service. I also had them tuck some wires back under the console (my boot had caught on loose wires and they were now hanging down by the petals). Later, when I went over the Service list at the shop, I noticed they didn't replace the front/rear differential fluid and check/replace the PCV Value (dealer recommended) that was on my list for a complete 120,000 service. When I inquired about these items, Sara stated that these two items were on the Value Serve, not the Minimum Service, which is the service that I had done. I was Not Happy because I felt this was a bait and switch scheme. I walked out with an incomplete service for $806.63, (she did subtract a few dollars for the tuck job because the 4 hour job actually took 8 hours to complete Because of the extra time it took, and I missed an appointment that I had scheduled for the same day.) I wasn't comfortable about what happened, so I called Joe again and explained that I was unhappy because I wanted the complete service, not a partial service, and now I had to pay more money for those two items they didn't do. He apologized for the misunderstanding and wanted me to bring the car back to do the two items that were not done . . . at no cost, and the time line for this was to be a maximum of 1 1/2 hours. Also, I mentioned to Joe, that I had found both an extra part and a screw in the car that had not been there prior to the original appointment. He conveyed that he wasn't pleased with the quality of work and that he wanted to be at the shop when I brought my vehicle back. So I made an appointment. Monday at check in, I showed the technician the part and the screw. I indicated that my left headlight was out and the bright light indicator has stayed on since I had retrieved my vehicle. I checked in with Sara and asked if Joe had left notes regarding our conversation, and she replied that he did not. I had to inform Sara that I was not going to leave my car, that Joe said that service wouldn't take over 1 1/2 hrs. After 2 hours, Sara and Joe went over the findings with me regarding the headlights and the extra parts I found in my car. Joe decided that the extra part and screw was not from my car and but he noticed that the headlight socket needed replacing because it had melted, which resulted in creating a short that was making the bright light indicator turn on. I ask how much would this cost and Joe quoted me $70. To my dissatisfaction, they didn't even work on the replacement of the front/rear differential fluid and check/replace the PCV Value, which this appointment was for. Sara and I went to her office to check out and she listed, To my surprise, the $70.00 service quote was now $130.00. When I asked why the $60.00 increase, she stated that the $70.00 was only for the part, not the service. It turns out that the part that I had found in my vehicle after the original service was in actuality a car part . . . it was the clip under the gas petal. "This is a Good example of the Right hand not knowing what the Left hand was doing." 13th of August, I went to Maita Subaru, the Boot Head cost $11.56. Gloria with the Subaru
